Alexandrea graduated with distinction from Chamberlain College of Nursing as a family nurse practitioner and obtained her BSN at Indiana University of South Bend. She earned her Associates in Nursing at Purdue University North Central. She spent 16 years as an RN at Memorial Hospital of South Bend before joining the South Bend Clinic in 2016. She has her PCCN- Progressive Care Nursing Certification, is also ACLS certified, and has been an ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Instructor since 2006.
Alexandrea says she became a nurse because she enjoys working with people and wanted to be able to help and take care of people who were ill. She decided to go back to school and get her Masters as a nurse practitioner because she learned often patients are too sick in the acute hospital setting to really participate in their care. Prevention and wellness have become increasingly important in today’s society and she feel as a nurse practitioner she can make a bigger impact in people’s lives outside of the hospital and focus more on their and needs holistically.
She is a member of American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
She and her husband live in New Carlisle and have three furkids, two English Bulldogs and one cat. She is passionate about volunteering and donating to Dixies Voice and Indiana Bulldog rescue. She and her husband enjoy the outdoors, including boating and have a boat docked in St Joseph, Michigan. They also like hiking in national parks and have completed many trails in the Smoky Mountains and Zion National Park. They love warm weather and spending time at the beach and try to travel to an island in the Caribbean once a year.
Alexandrea is practicing at South Bend Clinic’s main campus in the Gastroenterology Department.
