Daniel A. Barrett graduated from the University of Notre Dame where he received his bachelor's degree. His medical degree was completed at the Wayne State University School of Medicine and during his residency, served as chief resident at Children's Hospital of Detroit. Dr. Barrett completed his fellowship in American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Barrett has twenty-eight years of experience caring for pediatric patients in the South Bend area. He has covered patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and both general Pediatric Units at both hospitals. He enjoys caring for the very sick children of our community as well as the healhier children whose needs may be more preventive than acute.
He is the Chairman of the Board at Select Health Service, a hospital-physician organization which helps provide medical services/insurance to patients in the northern Indiana area. Dr. Barrett is the past President of the Board of Trustees for the South Bend Clinic and has served eleven years on the Board.
He has been married for thirty-five years to his wife, Beth, who is President of the Christ Child Society in South Bend. The Christ Child group clothes over four thousand needy children each year within the area. They also serve together on the Leadership Team for the northern area of Indiana for the Riley Foundation. The group is committed to expanding the regional outreach services of Riley to this area.
They have three children (Brian, Colleen and Mary Ann) who are grown and currently live outside the South Bend area.
