Dr. Melissa Bartoszewicz, a family practice board certified nurse practitioner, received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree from Indiana University and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Valparaiso University. She has worked with the Department of Cardiology for the last six years, first as a rounding nurse, and now as a provider of cardiology care.
Melissa’s love of cardiology was first sparked as a floor nurse on a medical/surgical/telemetry unit in California but was nurtured by the cardiologists at The South Bend Clinic. After mentoring with Dr. Nasser for three years, she decided to return to school for her doctorate degree to pursue a provider role in the care of cardiology patients as a nurse practitioner.
Melissa was drawn to cardiology due to the complex management and often times puzzling nature of various disease processes managed by the cardiology providers. Melissa has been trained in areas of general cardiology, interventional cardiology, peripheral arterial disease management, and electrophysiology.
She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, an invitation-only nursing honor society comprised of members who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship and exceptional achievements in nursing.
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys gardening, home remodeling, and spending time with her husband and two children. She also enjoys Notre Dame Football (Go Irish!) and rarely misses a game.
Melissa practices downtown at The South Bend Clinic on North Eddy.
