South Bend Clinic Celebrates a Century with a Year-Long Celebration

Proud to be celebrating its 100th birthday, The South Bend Clinic is launching a year-long celebration that will include a Gala, a moving wall of archive documents and photos, a speaker series featuring a national celebrity, and a Century Speaker Series.

SBC’s Celebrate a Century Gala kicks off the festivities on Saturday, January 16th.  By invitation only, doctors, community leaders, politicians and others who have been an important part of The South Bend Clinic’s history, will celebrate at the Gillespie Center at the Hilton Garden Inn.  Keynote speakers for the event will include Senator Joe Donnelly and the Clinic’s most tenured partner, pediatrician George Horvath, M.D.  The gala will include dinner, dancing and a special video presentation about the clinic’s history.

In the months that follow, a moving wall that shares The South Bend Clinic’s story through historical pictures and documents and current “faces of the Clinic” will be displayed for a period at each of the clinic’s locations.

This summer, a speaker series will include a national celebrity, who will share his story of being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.  He will share his personal struggle and an inspirational story about launching his Diabetes Dream Team to help others.  Following that event which will be held at the Century Center on June 15, the Clinic will also hold a Century Speaker Series, a series of short presentations given by South Bend Clinic doctors on topics like women’s health, wellness and lifestyle behaviors for children and adults, diabetes and other common diseases.

Finally, the year will wrap up with a special Century Celebration Holiday Party for the clinic staff on December 3rd, 2016 appropriately held at South Bend’s Century Center.

The events are a way to thank our staff, the people who carry out our mission with such care every day, and more importantly, to thank our patients and the community, who’ve entrusted their care in us for 100 years.
