The South Bend Clinic has committed to supporting Girls on the Run Michiana, a physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd through 5th grade, as both a Program Partner and the Presenting Sponsor of the Girls on the Run 5K Celebration for the next three years. Through this partnership, The South Bend Clinic is providing generous financial support while also promoting a message of healthy living and health care through the involvement of their staff and physicians with Girls on the Run Michiana. Through Girls on the Run, participants develop their confidence, learn about building healthy relationships and participate in a community service project while becoming physically and emotionally prepared to complete a non-competitive 5K event.  “The South Bend Clinic is excited to be partnering with Girls on the Run to support a mission we share, to help educate and empower young girls about topics that range from bullying to the importance of healthy habits including nutrition and exercise,” says Paul Meyer, The South Bend Clinic’s Chief Executive Officer. “We care for more than 23,000 kids in our community and really see this as a great way to share our expertise and resources to help prevent problems before they begin.”

Amy Cooper-Collier, Girls on the Run Michiana Council Director, says "We are honored to welcome The South Bend Clinic into the GOTR family as an organization with such passion in caring for the community. Through this partnership, more girls than ever before will be able to activate their limitless potential."  Girls on the Run Michiana will impact the lives of over 850 girls in the Michiana area this upcoming season and has had more than 2,300 participants since it began in the area seven years ago. Through the help of generous sponsors like The South Bend Clinic and individual donors, scholarships are provided to 63 percent of program participants. In partnership with The South Bend Clinic, Girls on the Run Michiana looks forward to continuing to grow and inspire more girls to be joyful, healthy and confident.
